This quote comes from a conversation between
the crazy Cheshire Cat and Alice.
The grinning Cheshire Cat is giving directions to Alice and
tells what sort of people live in each direction in the woods.

On the second place is quite an odd question by the Mad
Hatter.
"Why is a
raven like a writing desk?" -The
Mad Hatter
Alice
is at the March Hare's house and the Mad
Hatter is there with Dormouse as well. They
are having a tea party. March Hare and Alice
get into an argument about Alice's right to join the tea party.
Then the Mad Hatter makes Alice even more furious by telling
her she needs a haircut. Of course Alice declares that comment
to be rude, but the Mad Hatter answers her
with this famous riddle.

Alice.

and curiouser." -Alice
Alice
eats a cake and expects something peculiar to happen to her.
After awhile her neck grows so much that eventually she does
not even see her own feet any more.

of Hearts.

her head!" -The
Queen of Hearts
The Queen of Hearts uses this expression
quite often in the story. One time being when Alice meets
the Queen for the first time. After Alice
has introduced herself, the Queen asks her about the three
playing card gardeners lying on the ground. Because Alice
does not know them and expresses the fact to the Queen quite
casually, the Queen of Hearts gets furious
and screams to Alice.

The number 5 quote is from the King of Hearts.
"Begin at
the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop."

This happens at the hearing in court while
the King of Hearts asks the White
Rabbit to read a set of verses in a letter, written
by the prisoner. White Rabbit does not know where to begin. |

Alice meets the hookah smoking Caterpillar
who wants to know who Alice is.
“I can’t
explain myself, I’m afraid, Sir, because I’m not
myself, you see.” -Alice
But
Alice can’t really tell who she is, because she has
changed so many times since that morning. The Caterpillar
asks her to explain herself. This quote is how Alice answers.

– The Mad Hatter
This is the first part of the song the Mad
Hatter had to sing at the concert given by the Queen
of Hearts. He recites this to Alice at the famous
tea-party.

Alice
and the Red Queen are running in the forest
for a long time, but when Alice stops she notices that they

The Red Queen then explains how things work in her kingdom.

Alice is helping the White Queen
to straighten her dress and tidy up her hair.
“The rule is,
jam tomorrow and jam yesterday – but never jam today.”

When
Alice mentions that the White Queen should
hire a maid, the Queen offers the job to Alice with a salary
of two pence a week and jam every other day.
Alice tells that she doesn’t care for
jam and in any case she doesn’t want jam today. To this
the White Queen claims that she couldn’t
have jam today even if she wanted because of this rule.

At number 10 is a famous quote from the
White Rabbit. Alice follows the White Rabbit
into the rabbit hole and finds herself in a long corridor.
"Oh my ears
and whiskers, how late it's getting!" -White
Rabbit
Alice
sees the White Rabbit hurrying down the passage.
Alice sprints after him just in time to hear the White Rabbit
say this quotation.
This famous quote is actually made even more
famous by Disney Films. They adapted the quote into a song
by White Rabbit:
"I'm late, I'm late, I'm late,
